About
LiLL-Interactive-Magazine was developed by the Zentrum für Allgemeine Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung (ZAWiW) der Universität Ulm in the frame of the project Learning in Later Life - LiLL. The project LiLL was funded from 1997 to 2000 by the Socrates Program of the European Commission and the BMFSFJ . From 2000 until the autumn of 2006 the project’s platform was maintained by volunteers. In October 2006 the ASKO EUROPA-STIFTUNG provided the funds for the continuation of the project. The background to the actions of the project was laid by the goals of an informal network of professionals active in the area of seniors’ education in various European countries that was founded in the year 1995.
The main aims of the network and the project LiLL are:
• the fostering of exchange and information in the field of seniors’ education that leading to improvement of quality of educational offers for this target learner group
• the development of new fields of activity for the application of the acquired knowledge
• the promotion of cooperation between professionals in the field of seniors’ education and seniors Europe-wide
• an increase of a political support for this field.
The Magazine is published in cooperation with seniors-volunteers in Germany and abroad, who edit, translate and write articles for it. It should inform about issues from the field of seniors’ education and the ways of applying the acquired knowledge in meaningful ways. Furthermore, provided are technical tools for active feedback and discussion between the readers and the authors and editors.
The LiLL-Interactive-Magazine appears in English and German. Translation of the contributed articles from European languages other than these two is aspired for with the help of volunteer translators – please see section “Help”.
The Magazine is distributed through the mailing list of the Network LiLL to 180 professionals from the field of seniors’ education Europe-wide and numerous associations and networks that are concerned with education for older adults and related topics. It is also distributed further by cooperating organisations and associations such as BAGSO.
We will be happy to publish your text contributions to the Magazine’s subjects, as well as announcements in the “News” and “Education” sections.
We hope that you will find the articles interesting and that you will forward the Magazine to your senior students so that they can participate with comments and in discussions about the published texts.
Seniors who are interested in contributing to the development of the Magazine are very welcome! We need support in the following areas: editing, writing, translating and proofreading.
