European Soirée

European Soirée

A method for an intercultural role play

In the frame of the European project meetings, ZAWiW organizes now and again „European Soirées“. This is an intercultural event, developed by ZAWiW. One person adopts the role of an important person from history, culture or economy and invites to a „European Soirée“ persons from various eras, countries, cultures and professions, who are important for their countries and who through their lives and actions have a relationship to Europe.

The invited guests take on the role of the “European” person that they had chosen and prepare and dress up for that role. The invitation is made in writing – see the invitation made in the frame of the Grundtvig Learning Partnership SENIOR below.

The evening is opened by the host, in the role of the person that she or he had chosen for himself. The guests hand in the invitation billets and play in

the first part of the evening the role that they adopted. During the buffet and the various activities in the salon, the personalities meet each other and attempt to find out, who their conversation partners are. In the second part of the evening the secret wi

ll be revealed in that everyone says who she or he represents, why this person in known in the home country and what is her or his relationship to Europe. This way the particip

ating guests learn about important persons in the various countries and find out how many “uncharted areas” on our “map of knowledge” there still are.
