Pupils’ Guides

Pupils’ Guides

Maria Vittoria Nodari, Istituto Rezarra, Vicenza

In the academic year 2008-2009, Vicenza’s University for older Adults has started some master classes for its more advanced students.

In its Camisano Vicentino Branch, an industrial and commercial centre, they made a study of social activities and proposed a plan to the city council to help families by accompanying pupils to and from school.
The senior guides collect the children at home, bring them to the bus and on the bus they make sure that there are no fights with older pupils (the ones aged 11-14). Then they take them to the school and leave them with their primary school teachers.
This service, all voluntary work, has been the centre of much interest and was met with satisfaction of the local community.
